I had just landed my first job after securing my undergraduate degree in business administration, and I was extremely excited about my prospects and the new place of employment. I had called my mentor, my professor from my introduction to business class during my undergraduate tenure, to thank him for his letter of recommendation and to celebrate the good news. To my surprise, the first thing he asked me was where I saw myself in five years.

Today, I am well prepared to answer that question, and my response is almost entirely predicated on my procuring a Master's of Business Administration degree from Shenandoah University. Talking with my mentor that afternoon helped me to realize the direction I wanted to take my career, and how valuable an MBA was to fulfilling my career objectives. In fact, my professional development has been well orchestrated by my mentor. We became acquainted after I frequently stopped by his office hours during that first fateful semester, and he has helped me to realize my professional goals and the correct path to getting there. I realize that it is rare to find someone who occupies such a position for any substantial organization who does not have a master's degree in this field or a related one. I aspire to work as a CEO because I believe this position fits my natural skills and attributes, as well as those that have been refined by education and training. I pursued leadership studies in my undergraduate career, and have helped to develop leadership characteristics in my own life since I first became involved in organized sports in elementary school. I believe that a good CEO possesses the right blend of business acumen and leadership prowess to help guide an organization to defining and achieving its objectives at an enterprise-wide scale. Furthermore, I am convinced that obtaining a MBA from Shenandoah University can help to increase my ability in both of these facets -- business and leadership, and that working as a CEO (a position which I hope to obtain in the next 10 years) is the best way to combine these attributes.
